Xueqi (Shirley) is a research specialist in the Department of Food Science and Technology at the University of California, Davis, where she also serves as the lab manager of the UC Food Quality Lab, led by Prof. Selina Wang at UC Davis. Her research started on olive oil chemistry since 2011, and has expanded to the assessment of underutilized crops, and the upcycling of agricultural byproducts in recent years. In addition to her research, Xueqi has been an active professional olive oil taster at the Applied Sensory Olive Oil Taste Panel since 2017. She has also contributed as a judge for the California State Fair Olive Oil Competitions since 2020.
