After graduation of Master Degree of Food Engineering, Graduate School of Agriculture, Kyoto University, joined Amano in 1984. Since then, dedicated to industrial enzymology, fungal genetic engineering, microbial fermentation, food and medical enzyme application. Received PhD from Kyoto University on the lipase in 1991. Spent three years at Institute of Food Research (UK) from 1999 to 2001. Found a novel protein modification enzyme, protein-glutaminase, in 1998.
