My name is Matthew Fhaner. I am currently an Associate Professor of Chemistry at the University of Michigan - Flint. My research interests involve utilizing analytical chemistry methodolgies for the characterization and analysis of antioxidant species and their protective effects on lipids. Specifically, I am interested in the direct analysis techniques within the field of electrochemistry. Our research group utilizes electrochemistry to directly characterize antioxidant structure and electron transfer capacity, along with supporting more traditional analytical methdologies (GC-FAME and Spectroscopy) to monitor lipid and antioxidant degradation in real time.
