Tosin Oyewole just completed her PhD final exam in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering from North Dakota State University under Dr. Ewumbua Monono (advisor), Dr. Bingcan Chen, Dr. Dean Webster, and Dr. Zhulu Lin supervision. She earned her BSc and MSc from Chemical Engineering department in Nigeria. Her PhD research focuses on investigating the effect of refining parameters on the yield and quality of epoxidized soybean and hempseed oils, and the performance of their biocomposite materials. Through this research study, we accomplished the following goals including: washing process optimization of epoxidized soybean oil by analyzing the quality of each washing step; model development for predicting the amount of impurities (acetic acid) removed in each washing step; yield and quality differences comparison in epoxidized hempseed oils synthesized from crude, degummed, and bleached hempseed oil samples; and composite fabrication and performance evaluation of their blended epoxy resin biocomposites.
I am looking forward to the next step and seeking employment as I graduate this Spring 2025.
