Most consumers associate foam in cleaning products with cleaning effectiveness. With industrial cleaning, high foam is most often problematic. This study explored how a non-ionic surfactant can achieve optimal soil removal efficacy by balancing hydrophobe length, branching, and hydrophilic composition. This study prioritized ready biodegradability and EPA's Safer Choice standards as foundational requisites. Lab testing demonstrating proven cleaning efficacy includes immersion degreasing, scrub testing, wetting test, and foam generation/decay. Results indicate potential robust cleaning in industrial kitchen applications, Cleaning-in-place, processing/manufacturing plant cleaning, and hard surface cleaning, including floor, vertical surfaces & countertops, with low foam and Safer Choice certification.
