Ethenolyis as new tool for the industrial production of oleochemical building blocks

Ethenolysis (cross metathesis with ethylene) and olefine metathesis in general offer many possibilities for R&D but also to generate new oleochemcial building blocks from readily available product streams like FAME-biodiesel if it can be applied on industrial scale.

Here we present examples how olefin metathesis catalysts and in particular Ethenolysis catalysts can be applied and used to generate new building blocks. We will present the status of our lates investment using Ethenolysis to produce methyl-9-decenoate (9DAME), 1-decene and C18 diacids from readily available European rape seed oil applying Ethenolysis at industrial scale. Verbio SE with its olefin metathesis catalysts specialist XiMo Hungary kft, pursue a long-term innovation strategy and by using metathesis will contribute to the needed feedstock change in the chemical industry towards the use of renewable and biobased carbon.
