This study presents an innovative, eco-friendly process for reducing free fatty acids (FFA) in acidic crude palm oil (ACPO). The process has been validated through laboratory-scale experiments and a small pilot plant operation with a capacity of 1 gallon per hour. Results demonstrate that this method can reduce FFA levels from 60% to less than 2%. Based on materials and energy balance assessments, this green process preserves the fatty acid profile, achieves significant energy savings, and minimizes environmental impact. With its low cost, energy efficiency, and safety, this patented technology offers a sustainable alternative to conventional industrial oil processing methods. It holds significant potential for revolutionizing the treatment of high-FFA oils.
