Surfactants, essential in numerous industrial and consumer applications, traditionally have been derived from petrochemical feedstocks. The increasing demand for environmentally friendly and sustainable products has driven development of surfactants derived from renewable feedstocks enabling circularity. This talk will focus on some of the technologies Dow is working on in this space including bio- and bio-based surfactants such as alkyl polyglucosides (APG), alkyl polypentosides (APP), monoalkylglyceryl ethers (MAGEs) and sophorolipids. Additionally, the integration of carbon capture technologies in the production of alcohol ethoxylates to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions will be discussed. The uses, benefits and challenges of these technologies will be highlighted.
